This picture was taken on Saturday 22nd March 2008 alongside the River Devon at Cambus, Clackmannanshire. It shows, what I assume is, a porpoise swimming up river from where the River Devon mets the River Forth. It was there for over half an hour before it swam back into the larger river and we lost site of it. Apparently it's very unusual for them to appear any further up the River than Grangemouth.
We've taken pictures of seals here before, but this is the first time we've seen a porpoise. It appears here almost a year to the day that a baby porpoise was found dead much further along the Forth at Bridge of Allan [link to story].
